Coach Education and Certification
Program Overview:
Parent Clinic
:: Designed to educate parents and beginning coaches interested in learning more about the game of soccer.
Fun & Games
:: Addresses the needs of the coach of 5-6 year olds by using non-directive coaching methods and following our S.A.F.ESM curriculum to emphasize the importance of having fun, free from the pressures of competition.
Young Player Development
:: Developed for coaches of 7-8 year olds. Coaches are exposed to the basics of technique training, incorporating: ball awareness, dribbling, passing and control, shooting, defending and heading.
Intermediate Player Development
:: For coaches of 9-11 year olds, the clinic focuses on skills training, conceptual development, functional training and decision-making, as well as incorporating our S.A.F.ESM curriculum. Additionally, coaching methodology and use of coaching tools are addressed.
Advanced Player Development
:: Designed for coaches of 12-18 year olds, this clinic addresses the areas within the confines of our A.T.T.A.C.K.SM curriculum, which focuses on the technical-tactical-functional development of practices.
These clinics can be broken down into Coaching Advanced Players (12-15 year olds) and Coaching Elite Players (16-18 year olds).
MLS Camps Coaches Proficiency Award
:: 1-day, eight-hour program designed for soccer coaches of players ages 5-12 years. Unlike most coaching certifications that focus on the actions of the coach and soccer coaching methodology, this program focuses on the player through a combination of conceptual teaching and practical application.
Theory Workshops
:: MLS Camps offers theory workshops in areas of: rules of the game, strategies and tactics, systems of play and coaching methodology.
